About the Album
As a husband and daddy of two, I'm constantly looking for resources on how to incorporate the Bible into my family’s daily life. I want us to know it, treasure it and—hey, why not?—sing it! This new project, Remember and Proclaim is a new collection of Scripture songs designed to help us know and sing truth to ourselves and to each other.
Every day is full of little opportunities to redirect our hearts back to God's love for us and what is true, true, true. These are some of the questions that come up at our house:
What do I need to remember when:
• I feel afraid? “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
• I'm happy (and want to dance)? “Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 106:1
• Life is hard? “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2
• I feel like God doesn't love me? “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Amidst a wide range of emotions, my family finds ourselves singing these responses together as we remember God’s faithful words to us. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a “kid’s album.” Scripture is just as needed for adults as it is for kids. May this be an effective tool to help us remember and proclaim what is true, true, true.
